Maryland uses Broad-Based Categorical Eligibility (BBCE) to raise the gross-income limit from the federal default of 130% of the Federal Poverty Level to 200%. The monthly limits below are the maximum gross income a household of each size can earn and still pass the gross-income test.

Work requirements

ABAWD work requirement in Maryland

Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWDs) aged 18 through 64 must work at least 80 hours per month, participate in qualifying training, or live in a county with an active waiver — or they lose SNAP after 3 months in any 36-month window. The age ceiling rose from 54 to 64 under the 2026 rules.
